Which cane color do you better see? | sunny weather
There may also be specific conditions during the summer that make visibility worse for motorists: sunny weather, mid-day, sunshine in the windscreen of the car, a pedestrian standing on the shadowy side of the road.
We ran a small experiment with colour variations of the blind aid (white cane) to test which colour is best visible to drivers - white, yellow or electric yellow?
We invite drivers to answer on which cane colour is better seen in this situation?
▪ ️ White walking stick: 00:06 - 00:38
▪ ️ Yellow walking stick: 00:39 - 01:04
▪ ️ Electirc yellow walking stick: 01:04 - 01:30
In the next videos, we'll experiment with visibility in different weather conditions - cloudy/rainy weather.
P.S. These videos are being created by the Liepāja society for the blind to promote discussion.
Context: the Liepāja society for the blind has agreed with Liepāja University to conduct an informative study, which will assess the question of matching or changing the colour of the walking cane. Right now, the mobility aid for blind people - the cane is white, but it's worth the study whether the cane would be better visible in yellow than the current white one when crossing the driveway.
The informative study is being carried out within the scope of the project “Palīdzēsim cits citam iedrošinot un praktiski atbalstot” No. 26/2.8.5 financed by the city local government of Liepāja.
Financed by the City of Liepāja municipality
